Pregnant Kate Middleton satisfies cravings with a spicy Indian curry

Kate Middleton has satisfied her pregnancy cravings with a spicy Indian curry cooked for her by family friends in her hometown. The Duchess of Cambridge, who is around seven months pregnant, enjoyed a homemade vegetable dish cooked for her by Indian couple Chan Shingadia and her husband Hash who run the Spar shop in Kate's village of Upper Bucklebury, Berkshire. "She likes my wife's cooking," said 53-year-old Hash. "We cook for her mum and family."

Although the couple didn't divulge exactly what the 31-year-old mum-to-be ordered, Chan hinted that the dish was a vegetarian one. "I'm vegetarian, I only cook vegetarian curry," she told The Sun. The expectant duchess picked up the dish from 'Peach's' convenience stores in the pretty Berkshire village when she visited parents Michael and Carole Middleton at the end of April, on the weekend of her second wedding anniversary to 30-year-old Prince William. The shopkeepers were honoured to be invited to Prince William and Kate's wedding in April 2011. "My wife made her curry a little while ago which she enjoyed," Chan said at the time. "I think she came in one day and my wife was cooking upstairs. She said it smelled lovely, so my wife gave her some to take away." The couple have known Kate and her family for years. They were among the select group of villagers, which included the postman, butcher and pub landlord, invited to the couple's nuptials. "We've really got to know Kate," said Chan. "She is really caring. She is like a human being, not a celebrity, and she is always a good customer. William is very down to earth." The couple said "French bread, ham, salami, cream and eggs" were among her staples and they listed HELLO! as one of her favourite magazines. It is thought that Kate will move home to be with her parents once she has given birth to her baby. The pregnant royal is said to have told friends that she will take her newborn to the Middleton's family home in Berkshire.

It is thought that she will spend around six weeks there without a maternity nurse thereby breaking previous royal tradition. "Kate just feels safest and most secure" when she's with her family, a source told the Daily Mail. Kate is very close to Carole and Michael and broke with royal tradition late last year when she and husband Prince William chose to spend Christmas at the Middleton's £4.85million Georgian home, rather than at the Queen's Sandringham Estate. Situated in the countryside, the secluded house will give the royal couple and their newborn more privacy and having Carole, who also has daughter Pippa Middleton and son James Middleton, around will provide new-mum Kate with invaluable support.
