Prince William and Kate Middleton attend state reception at Government House with New Zealand's Prime Minister

10 APRIL 2014 Prince William and Kate Middleton's packed schedule saw the royal couple attend a state reception with New Zealand's Prime Minister John Key at Government House, Wellington on Thursday evening.

Kate looked the picture of elegance in a knee-length Jenny Packham black dress with silver beading in the shape of a fern to represent New Zealand's national emblem. She wore her brunette locks loose over her shoulders.

Their third engagement of the day comes as part of their royal tour of New Zealand and neighbouring Australia, which is to last three weeks.

Earlier in the day, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took a short fifteen-minute flight to Blenheim, where crowds awaited them for a wreath-laying ceremony at the town's war memorial to commemorate the victims of the First World War and other conflicts.

The next stop on their itinerary was the Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre nearby, where they were scheduled to view an aircraft exhibition and flight display. The lucky royals were greeted by the Lord of the Rings director himself who had the honour of showing their Royal Highnesses around.

Prince George, who made his first ever appearance at a public engagement when he went to a special playgroup attended by other babies born within weeks of his own birthday on 22 July, stayed at home while his parents attended their first joint acts of the tour.
