After doing battle with a 30ft ape on the fearsome Skull Island, a man might feel he is entitled to kick back and enjoy a bit of a break. Hollywood actor Adrien Brody is obviously inclined to think so, as he has been taking time out from the pressures of Tinseltown by soaking up the sun in Wellington's Scorching Bay.

The Oscar-winner, who is currently promoting his new flick, King Kong, was photographed sharing some quality time with his girlfriend Michelle Dupont. Just last week the loved-up pair were basking in glory at the premiere of the movie, but they both seemed happy to swap the red carpet for green grass and a spot of sunshine once all the excitement had come to an end.

Adrien and his pretty partner aren't the only ones enjoying the sights and sounds of New Zealand, as the South Pacific nation has become one of the world's hottest destinations. Its tourism industry owes a debt of gratitude to renowned director Peter Jackson. His decision to film the Lord Of The Rings trilogy there acted as a showcase for the picturesque country, and his latest special-effects extravaganza is likewise showing off its stunning scenery.

There are few places in the world that offer such a wide variety of breathtaking landscapes. Sweeping golden beaches and verdant forests along the coastline give way to snow-capped mountains, gurgling volcanic pools and glacier-fed lakes as you move further inland. While it has long been a haven for fans of adventure sports like snowboarding and bungee jumping, more and more visitors are discovering the rich culture and history of cities like Auckland and Wellington.
