Laura BenjaminNews Director

I have been a journalist for more than 25 years and have been specialising in celebrities and showbusiness for most of that time, working on national magazines and newspapers before joining HELLO! in 2010.

As News Director at HELLO!, I have written about the biggest showbusiness stories of the last few years, including births, marriages, divorces and scandals, while I also spearhead the news coverage for the print magazine and work closely with our online team on uncovering great exclusives. During my time here, I have interviewed many A-list stars, including going on a shoot with Sarah, Duchess of York and the late Queen’s Corgis, organising an exclusive cover shoot with Coleen Rooney and interviewing Simon Cowell in the back of a car while travelling through central London. I have also attended events including Elton John’s White Tie and Tiara Ball, the Brit Awards, the Baftas and numerous premieres on behalf of HELLO!; in addition, I look after the books coverage for the magazine, scoring interviews with authors including Liane Moriarty, Marian Keyes and David Nicholls.

I was born and raised in London and gained a degree in American Studies from the University of Manchester, which included one year of study at Penn State University in the US. My first job was at the Hendon Times newspaper group, which sponsored my journalism training at the Editorial Centre in Hastings. I then graduated onto the nationals, moving into magazines when I started a family. I love knowing the latest gossip and I have always been fascinated with celebrities, so working at HELLO! is a perfect fit for me.
