No-one is more thrilled by the news of Pippa Middleton's engagement than her family. Following the announcement that Pippa had accepted boyfriend James Matthews' proposal at the weekend, the Duchess of Cambridge, and Carole and Michael Middleton have all expressed their joy for the happy couple.
Proud father Michael told reporters that both he and his wife were "absolutely thrilled" by the news. "They make a wonderful couple and we wish them every happiness together," he added.

Pippa's sister Kate and her husband Prince William have also shared their excitement, with a spokesman for Kensington Palace saying that they are both "absolutely delighted" for Pippa and James.
Hedge fund manager James popped the question on Sunday as the couple enjoyed a romantic weekend away in the Cotswolds. Pippa debuted her beautiful diamond ring as she left her home in London on Tuesday morning, her beaming smile coming as further confirmation of the engagement.
Stepping out to a large gathering of photographers, the 32-year-old told reporters that she "couldn't be happier" following the proposal, which is said to have taken Pippa completely by surprise.

The engagement won't have come as a shock to Michael and Carole, however. James, 40, is said to have asked permission from Michael for Pippa's hand in marriage before going down on one knee, with a source telling the Mail: "James is a traditionalist and very much wanted to do things properly. That meant getting the consent of his future father-in-law."
Pippa and James, who briefly dated in 2012, rekindled their romance at the end of last year, and since then their relationship has gone from strength to strength.

The couple have a shared love of outdoor pursuits – namely running, skiing, swimming and cycling – which has only helped to strengthen their bond, and they have been virtually inseparable since seeing in the New Year in St Barts, where his parents own the exclusive Eden Rock Hotel.
