Pop icon Michael Jackson and Halle Berry, currently one of Hollywood's hottest properties, shared the stage together on Thursday night when both received prizes at Germany's Bambi Awards. Her arms filled with red roses, Halle posed onstage alongside Michael, who was dressed in his trademark black accessorised with a glittering brooch. The King of Pop picked up Germany's most important entertainment award, the Millennium Bambi, in recognition of his status as the world's "greatest living pop icon". Receiving the fawn statuette from former tennis ace Boris Becker, the reclusive 44-year-old said quietly in German: "Berlin, I love you". The awards recognise outstanding personalities and performances in various fields, including show business, film, politics and sport.

Appearing painfully shy, Michael – who was in the news earlier in the week for dangling his youngest son over the railing of his hotel room balcony – spoke to the children of Germany. "The world needs you," he said. "Live out your dreams. Maybe you will become an astronaut, an artist, and you will receive a Bambi." Halle, who was also in town for the premiere of her new flick Die Another Day on Wednesday, was awarded her gong in the international film category. She made headlines, too, after some racy shots of her appeared in FHM magazine. The actress' recent success has provoked reports that the curvaceous 34-year-old may get to star in her own 007 spin-off as Bond babe Jinx, the character she plays in the most recent spy flick.
