Rachel Hunter will soon be following in Sarah Jessica Parker's stylish footsteps by starring in a British version of Sex And The City. The model, who has already made a number of minor film appearances, will take a leading role in Denial, a comedy drama based on the hit US series, but set in London.

The new show is due to start filming in a few weeks' time and will eventually be shown on ITV. Rachel is to play socialite Georgie while Frances Barber, who starred in Manchild, will take the role of media darling Stella. They will be joined by Wish You Were Here actress Emily Lloyd, in the part of feisty trouble-maker Jerry.

Rachel, who is currently divorcing enduring rocker Rod Stewart, will have to jet home from her residence in LA to work on the series. At the moment she lives in California with her two children, Renee, 10 and eight-year-old Liam.

She is said to be very excited about the new project, however, and is looking forward to starting work. "There have been a lot of work offers for Rachel, but Denial is the one she believes will be a great success," said a spokesperson for the 33-year-old.
