David Beckham's autobiography My Side hit shelves on Friday, and the footballing heart-throb himself was on hand for the book's worldwide launch in the city he now calls home, Madrid, Spain.
Fans and press alike swarmed to the Spanish capital's Ritz Hotel for the presentation, where David, dressed in a stylish beige jacket, crisp white shirt and jeans, gave a first-hand view of what it was like to write My Side.
Trademark diamond ear studs in place, and his hair pulled back in a ponytail, the Real Madrid player revealed that the toughest pages to write were those in the chapter dealing with his parents' divorce.
The style icon also said he hadn't ruled out a movie based on the book, and admitted he has bad hair days like everyone else. "Thankfully, it's looking okay today," he quipped.
As for fame and its effect on his two sons, Brooklyn and Romeo, he said: "Brooklyn thinks it's just what happens to every mummy and daddy - that every mummy and daddy gives autographs, has their picture taken and that everyone screams at them. (He) enjoys it. He doesn't get upset by it."
In My Side, co-authored with Tom Watts, Becks gives a personal account of the highs and lows of his life. Among the topics he writes about are the development of his high-profile rift with Manchester United Manager Sir Alex Ferguson, how he fell in love with his now-wife Victoria and one of the things that brings him the most joy in life – fatherhood.
