Becks in doubt for crucial Turkey clash

David Beckham's storming start at new club Real Madrid has suffered a setback after he hurt his foot at the weekend. The injury means the soccer star may miss England's crucial Euro 2004 clash with Turkey on October 11.

The 28-year-old came down heavily on his right foot while taking a free kick against Valencia on Saturday. He managed to play the rest of the game, but hobbled off afterwards and was told to miss training on Sunday. The match was David's first league defeat since joining Real Madrid and it is unlikely he'll play in Wednesday's Champion's League clash against Porto.

"It's hurting at the moment and we'll just have to wait and see," said the 28-year-old. "There are two weeks to go before the Turkey game. I've got a couple of days to recover. I hope it will be OK but I'm not sure."

England fans can take heart in the fact that Becks was able to drive on Sunday, as he and wife Victoria went for a spin around Madrid in his £80,000 Aston Martin. Their appearance came after tabloid newspapers published pictures of David out partying with a pretty blonde.

The woman in question turned out to be his personal assistant, Rebecca Loos, however. And Victoria also seems to be getting a taste for life in Spain, as she donned a gown by local designer Hannibal Laguna for the British Style Awards last week.
