Sarah Ferguson brought smiles to the faces of Canadian children when she flew into Toronto from the Big Apple on Wednesday. Kicking off her Chanel heels as she arrived at a local charity event for sick children, she got down on the floor to interact with each of the kids and give them a copy of her 2006 children's book Little Red's Summer Adventure.

The former wife of Britain's Prince Andrew was also happy to share memories of her real-life fairytale story as a member of the royal family. "I married the best prince of all - the best-looking, that's for sure," the 47-year-old told the enraptured youngsters. "I went to my wedding in a glass coach with six white horses. It was such a great day... it was the happiest day of my life."

It's clear Canada holds a special place in the Duchess' heart, after she made her first visit to the country in 1987 alongside her husband. "Canada is like my second home," she said. Referring to their canoe expedition along the Thelon River in Nunavut, she recalled: "My memories of Canada are sitting in a canoe for 18 days… but that was the best place, because Andrew and I certainly had a fantastic time together."

And she was quick to point out she still has a wonderful relationship with her ex, who is also dad to their two teenage daughters Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. "We're happy the way things are," she said.
