Big Bang Theory actor Johnny Galecki and Kelli Garner split

The Big Bang Theory star Johnny Galecki and his actress girlfriend Kelli Garner have split after more than two years together.

The couple's break-up, however, was amicable and they are still "best friends," a source told Us Weekly.

Johnny, who plays Dr. Leonard Hofstadter in the popular sitcom, was seen attending Monday's Emmy Awards on his own.

The 39-year-old actor and his ex-girlfriend first took their romance public in March 2012 when they were spotted kissing courtside at a basketball game.

The couple were said to have been dating quietly for months before.

At the start of this year, Johnny and Kelli, 30, enjoyed a romantic getaway in Mexico, just after they had attended Big Bang Theory star Kaley Cuoco's wedding to Ryan Sweeting in December 2013.

Johnny previously dated his co-star Kaley for roughly two years from 2007 to 2009 – while their characters were also on-screen lovers – but the pair kept their relationship on the down-low.

Johnny Galecki is said to be earning $1million per episode

Production for season eight of The Big Bang Theory resumed earlier this month, after the cast signed fresh contracts.

Johnny, Kaley and Jim Parsons – who plays Sheldon Cooper – are said to be raking in a cool $1million per episode, upped from their previous salaries of around $100,000 per show.

The three stars from the sitcom, which this year scooped two Golden Globe awards for Best Television Series and Best Actor for Jim, are now reportedly financially on par with the Friends cast.

The group of six friends were understood to have earned the same figure per episode when the New York-based programme was in its final seasons.
