The actress gathered her closest pals together for a special dinner at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood on Thursday, with famous guests including Courteney Cox, Emily Blunt and her husband John Krasinski, Amy Adams, Sacha Baron Cohen and his wife Isla Fisher.

Tobey Maguire, Malin Akerman and Jimmy Kimmel were also among the invitees spotted arriving around 9pm at the hotel to celebrate alongside the birthday girl and her fiancé Justin Theroux.

"The party appeared to be over just before 1am in the morning," an eyewitness told E! News. "Jennifer and Justin left through a different entrance as the rest of the party grabbed their cars from valet."

There was one noticeable absentee from the party – Jennifer's close friend Reese Witherspoon. But she made sure she posted a sweet birthday message to the Cake star.

"All my love to this lady on her b-day," Reese wrote, alongside a photograph of the two pals together. "Her light, grace and humour make the world (& ME) smile! #JenniferAniston #WCW."

Jennifer has plenty to look forward to in the coming months; in addition to presenting at the Oscars on Sunday, she has a new comedy-drama film, She's Funny That Way, scheduled for release in May. Of course, 2015 could also be the year she ties the knot with Justin.

The sweet couple have been engaged since August 2012, and fans are excitedly waiting for their wedding day. Earlier this month, Jennifer opened up about their plans – and revealed the couple are still trying to decide on the right kind of ceremony for them.

"There's a big discussion in our house right now," she told InStyle. "Do you just do it and say screw it? Or do you try desperately to get away with (a secret ceremony) where you don't have any fun because you’re hiding in a cave somewhere? If we could do it without all the buzzing and the noise…

"It can be done. When there's a will, there's a way!"
