Paul Gascoigne has spoken in a rare TV interview about his struggles overcoming alcohol addiction and how he is today. The football legend told Good Morning Britain presenter Ben Shephard: "I just want to carry on enjoying myself and staying sober, my life is good… Today I love myself, I have to say that. "The sporting icon spoke about a film being made about his life. On who will play him, he laughed, "good luck!" before adding, "I was going to ask Jack Nicholson because I saw him in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest!"

And on his life now, Paul said: "Yeah I'm feeling good, as long as I stay like this but no, things have been good over the last few months to be fair. I've just been on top of everything and just trying to relax and enjoy myself as much as I can. "Earlier this week, Paul looked his best in a long while as he launched his new documentary in Brixton's Ritzy Cinema in London.

The former England international footballer arrived in style in a smart black suit and white shirt, with his hair neatly scraped back. Accompanied by his family, he smiled happily for photographers and his fans alike.

The new film about Paul – known as Gazza – sees him tell of his career ups and personal downs in his own words, says its Bafta-winning director Jane Preston.
