Susanna Reid dons graduation robes for fellowship ceremony

Susanna Reid went back to Cardiff University for the day, where she was presented with a very special award. The TV presenter, who attended the university some 20 years ago, was made an Honorary Fellow and recognised for her services to broadcasting.

The Good Morning Britain star shared a few photos of herself on Twitter, dressed in her graduation robes complete with a black mortar hat.

"Thank-you #CardiffUni for making me an Honorary Fellow today & congratulations to all the students who graduated," wrote Susanna.

The 44-year-old also retweeted a post from comedian and presenter Danny Wallace, who joked: "@susannareid100 can't believe they made you dress up as Henry VIII!"

Susanna looked her usual gorgeous self, wearing a navy lace dress underneath her graduation gown, teamed with a pair of bright orange heels. She also tweeted that she was "very honoured" to be receiving the fellowship.

The Croydon-born star attended the University of Bristol for her undergraduate degree, where she read politics, philosophy and law. During her time there, she was also the editor of Epigram, the award-winning student newspaper.

Susanna then moved to Cardiff to complete her post-graduate diploma course in broadcast journalism. Reflecting on her time in the Welsh city, she said: "What Cardiff taught me – other than practical journalism skills, of course – was that it was a place where I could make mistakes; a safe place for me to make those mistakes and learn from them."

Following her graduation Susanna worked in Bristol for the BBC before eventually returning to London, where she had attended St Paul's Girls' School, to embark on her highly successful career.

Susanna lives in south London with her estranged partner Dominic Cotton

The popular show host was best known as the co-presenter of BBC Breakfast, which she fronted from 2003 to 2014, before moving to ITV in April 2015.

Just before her exit, Susanna also confirmed that she and her partner of 16 years Dominic Cotton had separated. The ex-couple continue to live together in south London for the sake of their three sons Jack, Sam and Finn. Susanna is single while Dominic has a new girlfriend.
