It had been claimed that the book, which was released in May, was not selling well; an August 3 report stated that Nielsen Bookscan has logged sales of just 32,000 copies. But in a statement to Us Weekly, the publisher stated the sales are much higher. "The Bookscan number of 30K floating around is not inaccurate but it represents a very small segment of our sales overall, which are very strong in non-bookstore specialty retailers, and international sales, neither of which reports to Bookscan," Pam Sommers, executive director of publicity at Rizzoli said. "The book is, in fact, a significant success story as a benchmark of the phenomenon of self-portrait in the digital age."She added that the book is now in its fourth printing, with total trade sale of approximately 125,000 copies, domestic and international.
