Michelle Keegan and Mark Wright are due to spend two months apart when the actress flies to South Africa to film her BBC drama Our Girl later this month, so the lovebirds are making sure they get plenty of quality time together before she jets off.

The handsome couple, who have been married eight months, headed out on Thursday evening for a low-key date night to try the VIP Experience at Cineworld Sheffield.

The duo took a night off their usually healthy lifestyle, indulging in plenty of cinema-style snacks. Michelle gave fans a glimpse of their feast on Instagram with a photograph of the pair tucking into the likes of nachos and popcorn. "Date night tonight in @cineworld Sheffield checking out the new #cineworldvip experience! Food and drink overload! @wrighty_," she captioned the snap.

The former Coronation Street star swapped heels for trainers, dressing down for the casual evening out in a cosy printed cardigan layered over a black polo and skinny jeans. Mark, meanwhile, was all in black with a khaki jacket to protect him from the winter chill.

HELLO! Online blogger Michelle signed on for the leading BBC war drama in June 2015, replacing Lacey Turner's Molly Dawes in the leading role of Corporal Georgie Lane, not long after the couple's lavish wedding ceremony. Her commitment includes two months of intensive filming away from home in South Africa, as well as rigorous training.

Nanny Pat's funeral took place in Essex earlier this month

While Mark has commitments in the UK to his Heart FM radio show, as well as Take Me Out's ITV2 spin-off The Gossip, he has told Star magazine: "If I get a free week, for sure [I'll go over]. I'm on Heart Radio twice a week, so I can't be there the whole time, but I'll get over as much as I can."

No doubt Mark will appreciate some quality time with his other half until then. The former TOWIE star recently lost his beloved grandmother, Nanny Pat.

He was left devastated when Nanny Pat, whose real name was Patricia Brooker, passed away on 16 December. At the time the 28-year-old paid tribute to his late grandmother on Twitter, writing: "My heart is broken but so overwhelmed by your support. To know good ole Nanny was loved by so many is the best feeling in the world. Thank you."
