Madonna thanks fans for their support following difficult few weeks: 'Kindness can save me'

After being in the industry for many years, Madonna has built up a very loyal fan base. Her followers, which she calls her 'Rebel Hearts', have stuck with her through thick and thin, and are now speaking out in support of the singer, after a tough couple of weeks.

After facing criticism for her recent Rebel Heart tour and becoming embroiled in a bitter custody battle with her ex-husband, Guy Ritchie, Madonna seemed genuinely touched to receive a letter of support from her fans. The Like A Virgin singer posted a picture of the supportive message, alongside the caption: "Thanks soooooo much for this! It means a lot to me! One word of kindness, it can save me!"

Madonna has thanked her fans for their heartfelt message

The note, which was signed from "Your Rebel Hearts" read: "M, we’ll keep it simple. WE ARE HERE. As we have always been, and always will. Whatever the things you’re going through right now (we are aware that we don’t know everything), no one else than your true fans keep their minds and hearts with you on them.

"We’re crying with you, but we know you will get through this as you always do. You were born as a lion, and lived as a lion. We just want you to know that our love for you rescues us every single day, and we hope ours could do the same. There’s a lot of comments saying this. But we did this to make it official and do all of us, the fans together. WE LOVE YOU, FOREVER."

Madonna broke down in tears during her concert in Mexico City

The kind words come after the pop superstar broke down on stage during her concert in Mexico City, at the beginning of the month. Speaking frankly to the audience the singer said: "We all go through challenging times in our life, and that includes me."

"I, too, go through challenging times in my life and right now is one of them," she said, wiping away tears. The 57-year-old is fighting to get her son Rocco to return to her home in the United States, after he fled to London to be with his father in December.
