Nick Carter has spoken for the first time about his arrest in Florida almost three months ago. The Backstreet Boys singer was allegedly involved in a bar brawl in January inside the Hog's Breath Saloon on Key West and was taken into police custody. This week, he said that his arrest had been a wake-up call. "Absolutely, we are all human, we act that way sometimes," he told Access Hollywood.

The star, who was booked on a misdemeanour battery charge, added: "You know things definitely don't turn out the way you plan it. I'm focused on the positive stuff that is happening and getting back on track.

"But for me, it’s always about learning from my mistakes and learning from things that might not necessarily be mistakes and little hiccups and things that can happen in life. I'm very aware of everything going on around me and know what I have to do to be the best that I can be."

Among the things Nick is looking forward to is becoming a first-time father. The singer and his wife Lauren Kitt Carter are expecting a baby boy any day now, and Nick told the publication that he hopes becoming a dad "will turn me into a better person and man".

The couple announced their pregnancy news in November, and found out the gender of their baby live on Dancing With The Stars. The road to parenthood wasn't easy; Nick revealed that Lauren, 32, had previously suffered a miscarriage.

"We've been trying to have a baby for about a year now. It's been rocky, to be quite honest with you. There have been times when we thought it wouldn't happen," the 36-year-old told People.

Lauren added that their struggles to have a baby had been particularly tough on her husband. "It was really hard on Nick. Just watching him get so excited about something, and see him get so hurt, it was hard," she said.
