Lucy-Jo Hudson has opened up about her recent split from husband Alan Halsall for the first time. The couple sent shockwaves through the soap world when they announced the end of their seven-year marriage last month.

Discussing her split on Loose Women, Lucy-Jo admitted: "It's difficult. I'm up and down."

But the former Coronation Street star insisted that she and Alan, who have one daughter together, are still "best mates".

"It's difficult. I'm up and down," said Lucy-Jo

"We'll remain friends and I genuinely mean that, we still care for each other," said Lucy-Jo. "We're so amicable and we get on, we speak every day. We're still best mates."

Naturally their daughter Sienna-Rae, who turns three in September, is their priority. "We just wanna make sure she remains happy," said the actress.

The couple confirmed their split in a joint statement last month, saying that they had shared many "wonderful years together" and that their focus will be on their "beautiful daughter Sienna-Rae, to ensure her continued happiness".

Lucy-Jo, 32, and Alan, 33, started dating in 2005 after meeting on the set of Coronation Street. That same year, the West Yorkshire beauty left the show after three years playing Katy Harris.

Lucy-Jo and Alan then tied the knot in 2009 and welcomed their daughter in September 2013.

Alan continues to be one of Coronation Street's most famous faces; he has played lovable mechanic Tyrone Dobbs since 1998.
