BRIT Awards 2017: The best behind-the-scenes Instagram photos

From their last minute beauty preparations to their eventful journeys to the O2, a number of celebrities gave fans a behind-the-scenes glimpse at the BRIT Awards on Instagram on Wednesday evening.

While stars including Emma Bunton and Holly Willoughby got caught in traffic en route to the event, others such as Bastille braved the tube to ensure they arrived at the awards ceremony on time. Meanwhile performers including Little Mix, Emeli Sande and Katy Perry took to social media to show off their red carpet preparations as they got their hair and make-up done for the event. We don't know what we love more, Katy Perry's hairstyle or her 'Woman' embroidered robe. The Chained to the Rhythm singer posted this snap of herself preparing for the red carpet, adding the caption: "GETTING READY."

Little Mix star Jesy Nelson was excited for her performance at the BRITs. The Shout Out To My Ex star, who is nominated for three awards, posted this photo from the red carpet, writing: "We're ready for you @BRITs!!!! ?".

Fearne Cotton looked gorgeous as she prepared to hit the red carpet in this black gown. "Thanks @sineadmckeefry for finding this lacy little number for tonight #brits2017," she captioned this photo.

Holly Willoughby revealed her husband Dan was taking advantage of their long journey to the BRITs by sleeping in the backseat of their car. "Some of us are more Brits ready than others!!! #wakeupdan," she captioned this amusing Instagram photo.

Bastille braved the tube en route to the O2 Arena, telling fans that they were running "so late" for the ceremony.

The 1975 hugged it out before their return to the BRITs, where they have been nominated for the British Group and British Album awards.

Emeli Sande also gave fans a glimpse at her red carpet beauty preparations. The singer shared this polaroid of herself getting her make-up done, simply writing: "Getting ready!"

Emma Bunton was one of many stars stuck in traffic en route to the Brits with her fiance Jade. "Getting impatient," she captioned this photo of herself and Jade in their car.
