The film, which is based on John Guy's 2004 biography The True Life of Mary Stuart, explores the famous rivalry between the two queens, and will revolve around Mary's attempts to overthrow her royal cousin, Elizabeth I, to claim the English throne. In the period drama, Joe plays Lord Robert Dudley, Queen Elizabeth's counsellor and lover.

As Joe's career is reaching new heights, his relationship with Taylor is heating up as well. The couple has reportedly been dating for several months and have been spending quality time together in the UK and the US. According to People, Taylor even rented a house in North London to be closer to her new beau and just last week the couple was spotted having coffee together in Nashville.
