Brooklyn Beckham is determined to prove that his family feud doesn't extend to his grandparents, sharing a tribute to his grandfather, Tony Adams, hours after skipping his 80th birthday party.
The 27-year-old star shared an old photograph of himself posing with his maternal grandpa on his Instagram Stories, writing: "Happy 80th birthday papa – I love you so much".
The virtual birthday wishes served more as a way to deliver a public message to the world than a heartfelt greeting since his grandfather doesn't have social media.
Brooklyn's post appears to signal that his family rift doesn’t extend beyond his parents, David and Victoria Beckham, and his siblings Romeo, Cruz and Harper Beckham, making it clear that he is still on good terms with his extended family.
The hot sauce entrepreneur raised eyebrows when it appeared he had forgone the lavish family bash in London to mark Tony's 80th, which was attended by the whole family, including his aunt Louise Adams and his cousins, in favour of a date night in Los Angeles with his wife Nicola Peltz.
The pair were seen drinking wine on the sofa, with Nicola revealing that Brooklyn had bought her a huge bouquet of pink roses.
Tony Adams' birthday bash
The Beckhams were out in force with a glamorous soiree held at the Hotel Café Royal in London to mark Tony's major milestone.
It was a black-tie affair; matriarch Victoria Beckham donned an ice-white dress from her eponymous fashion brand, while her daughter Harper dazzled in a chic black dress trimmed with lace.
Romeo and Cruz's girlfriends - Kim Turnbull, 24, and Jackie Apostel, 30 – were naturally also in attendance, pictured cuddling up to their famous partners.
Brooklyn was unsurprisingly a no-show. He has missed several huge family milestones in recent months, including his father David's 50th birthday celebrations.
The last time Brooklyn publicly acknowledged his family was last June, when he posted online: "Happy birthday nanny xx love you so much."
Brooklyn's epic family fallout
Things have gone from bad to worse since Brooklyn broke his silence on 19 January, finally addressing reports of a rift between him and his wife Nicola and his parents.
He made his feelings unequivocally clear, insisting he does not "want to reconcile" with his parents – ever.
"I have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private. Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed," he wrote in a very lengthy statement.
"I do not want to reconcile with my family. I'm not being controlled, I'm standing up for myself for the first time in my life. For my entire life, my parents have controlled narratives in the press about our family," he claimed.
"The performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships have been a fixture of the life I was born into. Recently, I have seen with my own eyes the lengths that they'll go through to place countless lies in the media, mostly at the expense of innocent people, to preserve their own facade. But I believe the truth always comes out."
Unsurprisingly, sources close to the Spice Girl and the former England captain say that they are devastated. "This is a crisis for the family – a bomb at the very heart of the family and the worst crisis they have ever faced," a friend of the Beckhams told HELLO! at the time.
Another insider said: "Understandably, David and Victoria are distraught and wish they could have resolved this privately. Brooklyn has opened up a whole Pandora’s Box." The friend added: "This has only just begun. For now, they intend to maintain a dignified silence on any specifics, but it’s heartbreaking for everyone involved."
