All eyes are on the royal family when they arrive via horse-drawn carriages at Royal Ascot, but on Thursday, the attention may have been grabbed by one of the unexpected guests. Riding in carriage four was actor Stanley Tucci, of Devil Wears Prada fame, along with his glamorous-looking wife, Felicity Blunt.
Stanley looked incredibly stylish in his obligatory top hat and tails as he soaked in all of the atmosphere. He accessorised his look with brown beaded bracelets and sunglasses, and ITV commentators remarked on how "cool" he looked. Meanwhile, his wife perfected Ascot fashion with a ruffled floral dress and a striking black hat.
The news of Stanley's presence instantly swept social media, with many questioning why The Hunger Games star would be granted a golden ticket to the carriages. "Oh please! Tucci?" one remarked, while another was excited by it, penning: "Mr Stanley Tucci. Love it!." "I knew I should have come today," another shared, disappointed to miss a glimpse of the 65-year-old star. The American actor has met the King previously, including when Charles hosted an Italian-themed dinner party at his Highgrove Estate. However, it is likely to be his wife's royal connections that secured him a seat in the carriage. Felicity Blunt was Jilly Cooper's literary agent before her death, and we know that Queen Camilla was Jilly's good friend.
As well as being in the procession, Stanley was granted access to the Royal Box alongside King Charles, Queen Camilla and Co., the ideal spot for watching the races, sipping champagne and soaking up the buzz of Ascot.
Stanley's new show
This appearance comes days after Stanley announced a new UK project. He will be embarking on a "culinary adventure" through Great Britain and it is being recorded for National Geographic. Many users were surprised that Britain would be the focus of the show, considering Stacey's Italian roots, and some questioned if British cuisine was nice enough to showcase. "From Italian cuisine to British one... it is gonna be a damn hard stuff..," wrote one and: "Hope you [enjoy] Greggs sausage rolls," another user joked.
Day two's standout moment
Yesterday's standout moment has to be when the crowd realised that Prince William and Princess Kate were in the carriage behind King Charles and Queen Camilla's. Their carriage received the biggest applause of the day and fans were transfixed on Princess Kate's immaculate yellow dress by Roksanda and Jane Taylor hat. She and William were perfectly poised as they arrived in the parade ring and they were sure to smile and wave to every angle for fans to get a good view. But did you miss this moment where Prince William gently rearranges Princess Kate's stance as she turns her back on him?
