Titus Welliver is gripping audiences as a moustachioed police officer in the new crime drama, The Westies. Set in 1980s New York, the series follows a ruthless Irish-American gang navigating a dangerous alliance with an Italian-American crime family.
The 64-year-old actor is no stranger to playing cops. He's widely celebrated for his iconic, titular performance as the dedicated LAPD detective in the popular Prime Video police procedural, Bosch.
While he remains a household name thanks to his brilliant turns in acclaimed series like Lost, Deadwood, and Sons of Anarchy, how much do you know about Titus' life off-screen?
Keep reading to find out more about his family life, including his previous marriages and three children.
Titus Welliver's previous marriages
Titus has been married five times, including to actress Joanna Heimbold from 1998 to 2004, and Jose Stemkens, a fashion consultant and former model, from 2014 to 2021.
For seven years, the actor was married to producer Elizabeth W. Alexander. Their marriage ended in 2012 when Elizabeth sadly passed away from complications due to breast cancer.
Reflecting on his five marriages during an appearance on The Karen Hunter Show, Titus said: "If I had to explain it away, we do things for the right reasons and we do things for the wrong reasons that seem that they are in the service of some emotional aspect.
"Sometimes you feel like solutions will somehow rescue a failing relationship, but I am a person who always holds out hopes and perhaps it's just an integral part of who I am," he continued, quipping: "Me and Liz Taylor, what can I tell you?"
Titus is currently in a relationship with interior designer Samantha Edge. Although there has been no public confirmation of their marriage, online media publications have referred to Samantha as Titus' wife.
Titus' three children
Titus shares his sons, Eamonn and Quinn, with his ex-wife, Joanna Heimbold, and is also father to 20-year-old Cora, whom he shares with the late film producer Elizabeth Alexander.
Acting clearly runs in the family as all three of his children have made appearances in Bosch or its spin-off sequel, Bosch: Legacy. Eamonn portrayed a young Harry Bosch in a flashback sequence, while Quinn took on the role of a twelve-year-old Bosch in the original series. Rounding out the family cameos, Cora also joined the production, taking on the role of Bosch's dog walker, Samantha.
The untimely passing of Titus' wife Elizabeth
Reflecting on his late wife Elizabeth's passing in 2013, Titus shared the poignant story of how she encouraged him to take on his role in the 2012 drama, Promised Land, while she was undergoing cancer treatment in Switzerland.
"I had just gotten cast in Promised Land, when she was really sick," Titus told Entertainment Weekly. "I told her, 'I won't do this movie. I'll go to Switzerland,' where she was being treated. She told me, 'No, it's important you do this film.'
"The entire time I was shooting the film, she was in Switzerland," he said. "She came back and was doing well, and then she wasn't."
Describing her as "the love of my life," he noted the film's lasting significance: "The movie has a particular weight for me. It's a tribute when I saw the film. It's a tribute to her. What a gift in a way she gave me."
On how their daughter Cora, who was seven years old at the time, coped with the loss of her mother, Titus said: "She hasn't missed a day of school. I see a child private about her mourning process. She hasn't had a cathartic cry. She definitely understands sadness. My daughter lived with my wife being ill since she was 2."
