Elle

Fancy some 90s nostalgia? Check out Prime Video's new Legally Blonde prequel, Elle, which follows a high-school-aged Elle Woods navigating the teenage politics of the 1990s long before she ever set foot in Harvard Law.

Reese Witherspoon, who first brought the iconic pink-loving lawyer to life back in 2001, executive produces the series, which Laura Kittrell (High School, Insecure) created.

Set in 1995, the eight-parter follows Elle as she moves from LA to suburban Seattle, where she navigates the "tumultuous waters of high school where she encounters tricky friendships, forbidden romance and questionable fashion choices".

With fans already hailing the series as a fun-filled tribute to the pink-hued original, it's well worth adding to your watchlist.

Lucky premieres on Apple TV on 15 July

Lucky

Anya Taylor-Joy returns to television for the first time in four years in Apple TV's new thriller, Lucky.

The 30-year-old actress, whose last small-screen appearance was a recurring role in the hit gangster drama Peaky Blinders in 2022, hasn't headlined a streaming series since her breakout performance in Netflix's 2020 miniseries, The Queen's Gambit.

Given her track record, it's safe to say that expectations for her latest leading role are high.

Based on Marissa Stapley's bestselling novel, Anya stars as a reformed criminal who is forced to revisit her illegal past one final time to escape a dangerous crime boss.

The synopsis reads: "When a multimillion-dollar heist goes sideways, con artist Lucky (Taylor-Joy) is forced to go on the run. Pursued by both the FBI and a ruthless crime boss, Lucky must fight for her life – and a way out."

If the gripping plot isn't enough to earn your viewing, perhaps the stacked cast will. The series, which is executive produced by Reese Witherspoon, has attracted an A-list line-up, featuring Annette Bening, and Timothy Olyphant.

Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Drew Starkey, Clifton Collins Jr. and William Fichtner also star in the series.

Lucky premieres on Apple TV on 15 July.

The Dark

You can always trust ITV to deliver a gripping, high-stakes detective drama, and its latest entry needs to be on your watchlist.

Adapted from G.R. Halliday's debut novel, From the Shadows, the six-part series follows the cat-and-mouse chase between Detective Inspector Monica Kennedy and a twisted killer in the Scottish Highlands.

Outlander's Laura Donnelly leads the cast of the "chilling" drama as DI Monica Kennedy, who is called upon to investigate the shocking discovery of a body on the coast of the Scottish Highlands.

The synopsis reads: "When the body of a young man is found eerily staged in the idyllic Scottish wilderness, detective Monica Kennedy fears this is just the beginning of a terrifying campaign that will strike the heart of a rural community. As paranoia rises, suspicions and secrets are forced into the light, and the locals start to realise that there is a serial killer hidden amongst them.

"With her experience of dealing with the darkest of humanity Monica Kennedy quickly becomes entangled in a heightened game of cat and mouse with a cunning killer. Only she can stop this monster before he claims any more victims. But when her own history creeps up on her, she begins to lose trust in her own judgement. Will it be her own actions that are the biggest risk to herself and her family?"

The Dark premieres on 12 July at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.

The Crow Girl

Fans have been waiting with bated breath for the return of Paramount's crime thriller following the huge season one cliffhanger.

The first series, which aired in January last year, starred Eve Myles (The Guest, Gone) as DCI Jeanette Kilburn, who led an investigation into the murders of young male asylum seekers in Bristol. Season one concluded with the shocking revelation of Dr Sophia Craven's true identity, a twist further complicated by her romantic connection with Jeanette, who finds herself in bed with the psychologist following the collapse of her marriage.

In season two, DCI Jeanette's investigation takes a shocking new turn when a mummified body discovered in a church wall and a body in a freezer reveal a chilling connection.

The synopsis continues: "As Jeanette digs deeper, Dr. Sophia Craven begins to suspect Victoria Burkeman, her mysterious and unstable former patient, could be responsible. With the case growing darker, Sophia suspects Victoria is more familiar than she thought, and Jeanette must face the terrifying truth: the killer may be closer than she ever imagined."

Season two of The Crow Girl premieres on 20 July on Paramount+ UK & Ireland, and on 8 September on Acorn TV in the U.S. and Canada,
