Dairy-free desserts, protein coffees and souping are set to be the big food trends of 2018. Social media platform Pinterest has released its 100 Report, which predicts what will be big over the coming 12 months. Among the top 100 trends for 2018 is what we'll be eating and drinking, and the world's obsession with healthy diets seems set to continue. Here are some of the top trends to check out now.

Dairy-free desserts: High on the list is dairy-free desserts, an after-dinner treat enjoyed by vegans. Veganism has been hailed as one of the healthiest ways to eat, and with celebrity endorsements from the likes of Miley Cyrus, Beyonce, and Jennifer Lopez, it's no wonder more and more people are turning to the animal-free way of life. Saves on Pinterest for 'vegan desserts' were up by 329 per cent this year, which has led tastemakers to believe dairy-free desserts will be a hot trend in 2018.

Protein coffees: Once the area of expertise of bodybuilders, protein consumption has become a way of life for lots of gym bunnies. And next year will see a growth in protein coffee, after searches for 'healthy coffees' saved 218 per cent more than last year. It's expected that turmeric and maca coffees will be big news.

Souping: Juicing is so last year, 2018 is all about souping. Saves for soups went up 306 per cent, with people favouring making home-made batches perfect for the cold weather and full of body-boosting vegetables and pulses.

Air frying: Forget unhealthy deep fat fryers, air frying is all the rage and is only going to grow in popularity. Saves on the app went up by 1,809 per cent in 2017, with air frying devices cooking delicious foods like fries without the fat of traditional frying.

Snap peas: Searches for snap peas, or sugar snaps, went up by 273 per cent this year. It appears many people's new go-to snack of choice is snap pea crisps - expect even more flavours and varieties over the coming year.
