Supermodel Claudia Schiffer will lend much more than a hand to an upcoming benefit for the American Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR). The leggy beauty has just donated a stunning white gold diamond and topaz necklace valued at upwards of £20,000 to the cause, and has even agreed to auction it off herself come next week.

The German model will show off her dazzling assets at the Cinema Against AIDS gala in Venice alongside expected attendees including Moulin Rouge star Nicole Kidman and South African stunner Charlize Theron. The August 31 charity event is scheduled to coincide with the Venice Film Festival, and will feature both live and silent auctions of eclectic pieces including a Louis Vuitton vanity case designed by Basic Instinct star Sharon Stone, chairman of amfAR’s Campaign for AIDS Research.

“We are aiming to raise in excess of £750,000,” says amfAR director of publicity Bennah Sefarty. “It promises to be a magical evening for a good cause.”

Dame Elizabeth Taylor is scheduled to host the event, sponsored by luxury jewellers Bulgari. Lady Helen Taylor will also make an appearance at the glamorous bash, with Alexandre Pires performing.
