MEN SHARE THE SPOTLIGHT IN NEW PIRELLI CALENDAR

The Pirelli calendar has a long-standing tradition of featuring risqué shots of the world's most beautiful women. But this year, the tyre company has chosen to tread new ground by opting to include men alongside the scantily-clad ladies.

Of course, the 15 Pirelli calendar girls are not just your ordinary pin-ups. Supermodels from all over the world posed for famed photographer Bruce Weber to create the stunning shots, including Heidi Klum, Natalia Vodianova, Bridget Hall, Karolina Kurkova and Sophie Dahl.

Eight males are included in the calendar, from Italian actor Alessandro Gassman to American middleweight boxer Richie La Montagne. And the masculine presence on the shoot, which took place on the beautiful Amalfi Coast in Italy, did not go unnoticed by British beauty Sophie. "Having the men there made me incredibly shy," she says. "I immediately felt like a 13-year-old schoolgirl and found myself twiddling my thumbs."

Though many of the shots – which according to Pirelli represent "an exclusive coming together of art and seduction" – portray the female form in its full glory, none of the men are fully naked. "That's a whole other deal," concedes photographer Bruce. "Guys are a lot shyer than women."
