Since her engagement to Prince William, the Princess of Wales has dazzled in some of the royal family's most recognizable heirlooms, from jewelry that once belonged to her mother-in-law Princess Diana to pieces worn by her late grandmother-in-law Queen Elizabeth.

But Catherine has amassed a jewelry collection of her own too. It's a treasure trove filled with personal pieces, including gifts from her husband Prince William, parents and royal in-laws.

"[Catherine's] jewellery box is a real treasure trove of pieces that are packed with true versatility," HELLO!'s Fashion and Beauty News Editor Laura Sutcliffe says. "The royal has a myriad of styles, from her shoulder-grazing Zara earrings she donned at the BAFTAs in 2023, her bargain Accessorize 'doorknocker' style earrings back in 2022 that went down to just £2 in the seasonal sale, to her priceless engagement ring; Kate has all price points covered.

"Her collection, which, as we know, is also laced with heirlooms, shows she has a keen interest in jewellery and likes to switch up her styles for public appearances, creating a different look each time. The princess is also a fan of personal pieces, sporting various necklaces featuring her children's names too."

Perhaps one of the most iconic pieces in her jewelry box is, of course, Diana's engagement ring, which Catherine was given in 2010. "It's very special. I'm honoured to wear it," she has said.

Engagement ring

Prince William got down on one knee during a 2010 holiday in Kenya and proposed to his college sweetheart with the same ring his father, Charles, had given his mother, Diana, when he proposed. The 12-carat oval Ceylon sapphire is surrounded by 14 brilliant round solitaire diamonds set in white gold. William explained in the couple's engagement interview that the ring was his way of keeping his late mother "sort of close to" the fun and excitement. Catherine called the ring "very, very special," and revealed years later that it's exactly the same size.

Prince Harry clarified in his memoir Spare that he never gave his older brother the ring to propose to Catherine. The Duke of Sussex shared in the book: "I never gave Willy that ring because it wasn’t mine to give. He already had it. He’d asked for it after Mummy died, and I’d been more than happy to let it go."

On their wedding day on April 29, 2011, Prince William placed this gold band on Catherine's finger. Wedding earrings

The earrings worn by Catherine on her wedding day were a gift from her parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, for her big day. Made by Robinson Pelham, the earrings are diamond-set stylised oak leaves with a pear shaped diamond set drop and a pavé set diamond acorn suspended in the center. The design was inspired by the Middleton family's coat of arms that features acorns and oak leaves. Since her wedding, the Princess has worn the earrings on multiple occasions.

Personalised gift

Catherine showed off another necklace bearing the initials of her kids while out in Battersea Park in 2020. The piece was gifted to the Princess by an independent business during her visit to Galway earlier that year. The brand, called All The Falling Stars, confirmed the gift on Instagram, writing: "A special personalised version of this necklace was gifted to the Duchess of Cambridge on one of her official visits in Galway earlier this year, with her children’s initials stamped on each disc - it’s back in stock and available in our online shop now!"

In 2024, the year the Princess started and complete chemotherapy, she was seen sporting a diamond and sapphire eternity band. It's thought that the ring could have been a gift from Prince William, who previously gave his wife a diamond eternity band.

Maxwell Stone from Steven Stone previously told HELLO!: "During their university days, William gave Kate a promise ring, and though it’s hard to be certain, recent footage of the royal couple suggests she may be wearing this sentimental piece again. The ring is set on a rose gold Victorian band, featuring two garnets - Kate’s birthstone - and pearls to represent William’s June birthstone.

"Unlike Kate’s 12-carat engagement ring - which she typically removes during physical activities, sports, or any situation where there’s an increased risk of damage or loss - this ring is more practical for daily wear. Kate has also previously removed her engagement ring when visiting hospitals for health and safety reasons. Given that the Princess has been undergoing treatment recently, this could explain why she has switched to wearing a different ring."© Getty Images
