Hollywood partied into the small hours after the hottest date in the cinema calendar. Colour was the name of the game at the post-Oscar dos where celebs like Madonna, Mischa Barton and Kate Bosworth donned their sexiest frocks.

Flashing acres of cleavage, the 47-year-old megastar arrived at the Vanity Fair shindig in a sensational lilac dress, which showed off her dance-toned physique to perfection. Meanwhile Superman Returns actress Kate had opted for a daring see-through poppy red creation.

Also among the beautiful people were Brittany Murphy, gorgeous in a royal purple thigh-revealing number, and Lindsay Lohan, who turned heads in a stylish form-fitting gown that was reminiscent of Tinseltown's golden age sirens.

Later the Hung Up singer and husband Guy Ritchie crossed town to join George Clooney and a gang of his close pals at an Italian restaurant, where the celebrations went on until 5.30am.

Clutching his best supporting actor statuette, the man of the moment had earlier explained how he planned to shun the high-profile parties. "I'm going to meet my buddies. They're there with their wives and I get to walk in with an Oscar," he declared. "That's the fun of it and calling up my old man and my mum."

At Elton John's celeb-packed bash things were anything but low-key. Wearing a pair of diamond-studded sunglasses, the king of bling welcomed starry guests such as Helena Christensen and Pamela Anderson to his annual fundraising extravaganza.

The most eye-catching outfit of the affair, undoubtedly, belonged to socialite Paris Hilton who was dressed to dazzle in a peacock-tailed gown.
