Victoria Beckham is one of the world's biggest fashion designers and rarely puts a foot wrong when it comes to red carpet dressing. So it's no wonder the former Spice Girl has been named the top celebrity for party inspiration. In a poll carried out by LittleBlackDress.co.uk, a quarter of women voted Victoria their most popular party girl style icon, with X Factor judge Cheryl Fernandez-Versini ranking second with 17 per cent and supermodel Kate Moss coming in third place with 10 per cent.

Black, Mrs Beckham's favourite colour, also reigned supreme in the poll, with 66 per cent of women choosing the colour as their favourite over and above all others. The LBD was the top party choice, named due to its "glamorous" and "sexy" properties, and the fact that it "always looks good".

Further proving the statement that women don't dress up for men, a staggering 85 per cent of women polled revealed that they indeed dress for themselves – and no one else!Party prep can sometimes be difficult to navigate, and the biggest fashion faux pas is, according to 80 per cent of women, streaky fake tan.

Also on the no-no list is showing too much cleavage (36 per cent) and revealing too much leg (20 per cent). When to comes to the price of our big night, it seems the majority of women (63 per cent) are happy to spend between £50 - £150 on a new party dress.
