Chokers have dominated the high street since making a comeback last year, with everyone from Kendall Jenner to Rosie Huntington-Whiteley big fans of the '90s-inspired piece. Now the trend could be picked up by men too if ASOS have anything to do with it.

The online retailer has launched a number of men's chokers on its site this week, showcasing male models wearing different designs including a pink velvet band and red bandana style neckpiece.

Since their launch they have quickly divided opinion across the internet with many people horrified at the thought of men wearing chokers.

"Just heard that ASOS are selling men's chokers, what's happened to the world I'm losing faith in humanity," Gogglebox star Shaun Malone tweeted. Another person pleaded: "2017 PLEASE, PLEASE STOP TRYING TO MAKE MEN'S CHOKERS A THING!"

However others pointed out that chokers have been worn by men for decades – from Jared Leto in the '90s to Ben McKenzie aka The O.C. heartthrob Ryan Atwood.

Some fans said that there isn't really such a thing as "men's chokers", and it was simply the case of a man wearing a choker, which could easily be a unisex product.

"I'm all for it but like also why can't they just be unisex chokers tbh?? Why weren't they also for men to begin with?" one person tweeted.

"It's safe to say that people aren't sure what to make of them just yet, but if you are a fan of the look, there are some available for as little as £1.50 on ASOS.
