Princess Charlene of Monaco has put her own glamorous spin on sheer dressing for a special gala in Monaco. The royal, 48, stepped out arm-in-arm with her husband, Albert II, Prince of Monaco, on Thursday evening for the 81st General Assembly of the International Council of Military Sport, wearing a striking black jumpsuit with an embellished mesh cape.
The royal looked effortlessly elegant with her hair styled half out in waves for the occasion in photos posted to the Palace's official Instagram account on Friday. Charlene completed her evening attire with a matching black clutch and heels. The royal added a pop of colour to her monochrome attire with a bright red lipstick shade. She let the embellished outfit speak for itself by keeping her jewellery minimal with a pair of diamond studs.
Charlene and Albert were joined at the Grand Hall of Fairmont Monte Carlo by Princess Stéphanie of Monaco's son, Louis Ducruet, and his wife, Marie Ducruet, which marked a rare public appearance for the couple. During the evening, both Charlene and Albert received respective awards, with Charlene being raised to the rank of Grand Officer of the Order of Merit by the International Military Sports Council, and her husband being given the title of Honorary Member of CISM.
Charlene's hair transformation
Charlene often styles her hair in glamorous updos while out and about, and her latest appearance was no exception. The royal has had her hair cut short for years, and started growing it out in 2025.
Earlier in the week, Charlene showed off her longer hair during an appearance at the Monaco Sevens Tournament at the Prince Héréditaire Jacques Stadium in Beausoleil. The royal wore her usually tied up hair out in elegant waves, which fell to just above her shoulders.
"Princess Charlene’s wavy bob looked fantastic, it's relaxed, stylish, and very flattering! Shoulder-length styles like these are a great choice for over-40s, as they give the illusion of thicker, healthier hair," Suzie McGill, an award-winning hairstylist who has over 30 years of experience in the hair industry, weighed in on Charlene's new hairdo.
Glamorous twist on sheer trend
The royal's contemporary style is sophisticated and often includes tailored looks, glamorous gowns, and the occasional sparkle. She's also been known to masterfully incorporate sheer fabrics into her elegant wardrobe, including a blouse with semi-sheer sleeves for a visit to the 'Joya' jewellery fair in Monte Carlo last November.
A couple of months earlier, the royal wore an Elie Saab midi dress for the annual Princess of Monaco Cup golf tournament, which featured a semi-sheer panel on the top. Oriona Robb, luxury stylist and brand consultant, told HELLO! that the look "epitomised quiet luxury and refined femininity".
