Dame Judi Dench and Kate Winslet, who appeared together in the acclaimed film Iris, are set to join forces once again for a rather more colourful love story. The two British actresses have been lined up to provide the voices for Juliet and her nurse in the new animated feature Gnomeo and Juliet.

The reworking of the Shakespeare's classic tale is being made by Elton John's company Rocket Pictures in collaboration with Disney. And Sir Elton is co-writing the score with the help of fellow knight of the realm Tim Rice.

But while the legendary musician is keen to follow up on the success of the The Lion King with another soundtrack, he turned down the offer of having one of the characters modelled on him. He reportedly didn't like the gnome in question's rotund curves or penchant for buying flowers.

Thankfully his dislike for that particular garden-dweller couldn't possibly match the rivalry that exists between the Capulet and Montague families. And just to ensure there's no confusion, you'll be able to tell the two clans apart by their red and blue hats.
