Hip-hop star Queen Latifah was looking noticeably thinner when she turned out for the 2003 Teen Choice Awards in Los Angeles at the weekend. The newly-svelte actress was picking up a trophy for Best Comedy actress for her role in Bringing Down The House.

The rap star, whose name means "delicate and sensitive" in Arabic, has lost 40lbs and undergone a breast reduction operation to transform her appearance.

"Queen Latifah did have breast reduction surgery. It was mainly for her health," said her spokeswoman Amanda Silverman. "She works with a trainer and does a lot of kickboxing, and working out was difficult for her. She was suffering from back pain and felt this was the best solution. She's absolutely thrilled with the results."

Other winners on the night included Demi Moore's boyfriend Ashton Kutcher, who was accompanied by his partner's daughter, Scout. Ashton took home five awards, including Best TV Comedy actor and "Choice Male Hottie".

Irish heart-throb Colin Farrell lived up to his bad-boy reputation by winning the gong for Best Villain, while Adam Sandler was given a special "Best Movie Hissy Fit" trophy, for his temper tantrum in Anger Management.
