The Voice is switching things up for its milestone 30th season.
The 30th season of the beloved music competition is set to return to NBC in September, though no date has been announced yet.
We do know however that we have two returning faces, founding coach Adam Levine as well as mainstay Kelly Clarkson, who will be joined by two other coaches completely new to The Voice universe.
On Tuesday, May 12, NBC revealed that none other than Queen Latifah, as well as country singer Riley Green will be joining Kelly and Adam on those famed judges chairs.
To announce Riley, a four-time CMA and four-time ACM winner, as a new coach, NBC shared a clip of Kelly welcoming him to the crew, in which she is heard telling him over the phone: "I'm super stoked to work alongside you. Welcome to The Voice. I was stoked when I heard you were going to be a coach because I'm actually a super-fan of your music, man. You're so good."
NBC saved the announcement of Queen Latifah's addition for last, and excitement over it was swift.
Fans, taking to the comments section under the announcement post, wrote: "I LOVE IT!!!" and: "Let's gooooooo," as well as: "Welcome Queen!!! Nice addition," plus another also wrote: "Oh this is amazing! Now I wanna audition!"
Queen Latifah, whose real name is Dana Elaine Owens, is already a Grammy, Emmy and Golden Globe winner, and also has an Academy Award nomination for her role as Matron "Mama" Morton in the 2002 musical film Chicago.
She most recently starred in The Equalizer, which ran from 2021 until last year, and she is hosting the 52nd American Music Awards (AMAs) in Las Vegas on Monday, May 25.
Though she has never been part of The Voice before, she was previously a guest judge on America's Got Talent, during their 14th season in September 2019.
Season 29 of The Voice, which was The Voice: Battle of Champions, just came to an end, and featured Kelly and Adam as coaches as well as recurring coach John Legend.
The special season featured an all-star lineup of returning winners competing against each other with a revamped format, including a "Triple Turn Competition" and "Super Steals." Executive producer Audrey Morrissey has already confirmed the show is returning to the traditional four-chair setup and typical format.
