Having donned long blonde extensions for Cold Mountain, gone dark and straight for Birthday Girl and sported fiery wavy locks for Moulin Rouge, movie chameleon Nicole Kidman has changed her look once again for her latest film, Birth.

The star, who earned an Oscar after disguising herself with a false nose for The Hours, is a dead ringer for sixties icon Mia Farrow as she shows off a daringly short pixie cut. But Nicole hasn't done away with her trademark curly style – her stylish red crop is a temporary one, thanks to a realistic wig.

With no fewer than seven films in the pipeline, changing her look has surely become second nature to Nicole. In the coming year she'll be playing such diverse roles as a Stepford wife, UN interpreter, witch and British aid worker, not to mention the mother of Alexander the Great.

Birth, the story of a woman who believes a young boy is the reincarnation of her dead husband, is set for an April US release.
