While speculation brews over whether pregnant American actress Gwyneth Paltrow and her British hubby Chris Martin will be raising their baby in the US or the UK, the film star has thrown another possibility into the mix – Spain.

Gwyneth, who is fluent in Spanish, has close ties to the Mediterranean country having spent time living there as a teenage exchange student. And last Christmas, she received a generous gift from her former host family, a remote five-acre plot in central Spain, where she and her husband of two-and-a-half months plan to build a villa.

Now it seems the celebrity couple is considering the hideaway as a permanent home. "We had decided to bring up our child in England," Gwyneth is quoted as saying in British newspaper The Sun, "but now I have this piece of land in Spain."

Whether England or Spain, however, it's clear that Gwyneth plans a quiet life with her growing family in an idyllic spot away from city life. "I would love to have one home base, somewhere in the country in the middle of a lot of land," she said in an interview published in the February issue of Vanity Fair. "I'm not sure which country."
