Rolling Stone daughter, Jade Jagger and Sugababes' singer Keisha Buchanan were among a bevy of British beauties mixing it up on the red carpet with American rapper 50 Cent. The UK premiere of the hip-hop star's debut film Get Rich Or Die Tryin' also attracted former athletics champion Linford Christie.

Arriving at London's Leicester Square on Tuesday the man of the hour - who enjoys a near mythical status as the hardest man of hip-hop - was greeted by throng of screaming fans. And 50, or Fiddy as he's also known, responded: "I love it here. It's the first place I've found friendly outside the US."

The film, which was directed by Jim Sheridan, is a loosely fictionalised account of the performer's rags-to-riches existence in the ghettos of New York. He survived being shot at nine times to be discovered by Eminem and become one of the world's biggest selling artists.

At the screening the 30-year-old hit back at critics who accuse him of glamourising violence, comparing the project to Jarhead, Sam Mendes' movie about the Gulf War. "In the US, they talk about violence in the film, and they forget Jarhead also came out the same week," he said.
