It's been a year since their very public falling-out, but it looks like Tom Cruise and Brooke Shield's rift is now water under the bridge after the Mission: Impossible actor went round to the actress' house to apologise in person.

Tom offered the olive branch after clashing over the Suddenly Susan star's use of anti-depressants following the birth of her first daughter Rowan, now three. "He came over to my house, and he gave me a heartfelt apology," she revealed to The Tonight Show host Jay Leno on Friday.

"He apologised for bringing me into the whole thing and for everything that happened," she said in the revealing interview. "And through it all, I was so impressed with how heartfelt it was. And I didn't feel at any time that I had to defend myself, nor did I feel that he was trying to convince me of anything other than the fact that he was deeply sorry. And I accepted it."

The War Of The Worlds' star's spokesman has also confirmed that the celebrity duo have made up: "It is true that his friendship with Ms Shields has been mended," said Arnold Robinson, although he added that the 44-year-old actor had "not changed his position about antidepressants."

In May 2005, the devoted Scientologist, who believes baby blues can be treated with the help of vitamins and exercise rather than prescription drugs, had implied Brooke's use of antidepressants had affected her career. His comments angered the actress who quickly rebuffed the claims, responding to his "ridiculous rant" in a piece in the New York Times.

The showbiz friends, who worked together on 1981 flick Endless Love, both became parents earlier this year. Brooke and her husband Chris Henchy's second daughter Grier was born in the same New York hospital as Suri – Tom's daughter with fiancée Katie Holmes.
