While her action has drawn comment around the world, to Salma Hayek in the circumstances it seemed the most natural thing to do. When on a charity mission to Sierra Leone the Hollywood actress came across a fellow mother unable to provide milk for her malnourished five-month-old son, she breastfed the tot herself.

"The baby was perfectly healthy, but the mother didn't have milk," said the 42-year-old, who is mum to a one-year-old girl. "He was very hungry. I was weaning my daughter Valentina, but I still had a lot of milk that I was pumping, so I breastfed the baby. When he felt the nourishment, he immediately stopped crying."

The moment was caught on film by US TV crews as Mexican beauty Salma toured a hospital in the African country. She was there in her capacity as a Unicef ambassador, to help raise awareness about the dangers of tetanus.
