Daniel Radcliffe goes over to the dark side in first trailer for Horns

Daniel Radcliffe is known and loved as boy wizard Harry Potter, but the actor turns to the dark side in this first trailer for his new film,Horns.

In the aftermath of his girlfriend's mysterious death, a young man named Ig (Daniel) awakens to discover he now has horns sprouting from his temples.

As well as the media frenzy painting him as the murderer, Ig also realises that the horns give him incredibly persuasive powers.

A mix of black comedy and gory horror, Horns also features Juno Temple and Max Minghella, and is directed by celebrated horror director Alexandre Aja.

Daniel found fame at the age of ten when he was cast as the titular character in the Harry Potter franchise.

Since the end of the films, he has been slowly proving his worth outside of the big screen, with critically acclaimed performances on the stage in controversial play Equus, and on Sky drama A Young Doctor's Notebook.

He recently addressed the possibility of returning to the big screen as his spectacle-wearing alter ego when author J.K Rowling shared a short, spin-off story on the Pottermore website.

"My inclination is to say 'no' because I don't think it's even a hypothetical at the moment," he said via satellite link at the Television Critics Association's Summer Press Tour.

The 25-year-old actor recently talked about his romantic side to Elle magazine and revealed that his thoughts on marriage: "It seems like the most romantic thing you can do is stand up in front of all your friends and say that you love this person..."

He later added: "At the same time, the amount of stress that goes with a wedding... I don’t know."

Daniel met his current girlfriend Erin Darke in 2012 on the set of Kill Your Darlings but told the magazine that he received his best piece of advice from Imelda Staunton on the set of Harry Potter: "I had a girlfriend, and we’d said, 'Oh, we’ll not do Valentine’s Day. Don’t do any of that.' I was relaying that to Imelda, and she told me that no matter what any girl says, 'just do something'."

Horns is out in the UK on 31 October.
