Strictly Come Dancing 2016: eleventh celebrity contestant revealed!

Claudia Fragapane has been named as the eleventh contestant on this year'sStrictly Come Dancing. The British Olympic gymnast has revealed that she is "so excited" to be taking part in the programme.

The announcement was made on Strictly's Twitter and Facebook accounts on Saturday night, and Claudia has opened up about how much she was looking forward to competing. In a statement, she said: "I am a really big fan of Strictly Come Dancing and am so excited to be chosen to take part this year.

Claudia has revealed that she is "excited" to perform in the show

"I am used to performing in front of big crowds but this is going to be so different to my floor routines in gymnastics – but I love a challenge and performing!  I also love dressing up and wearing sparkly costumes!"

The 18-year-old competed as part of Team GB in the Rio Olympic Games, and excels in floor and vault. She also made history back in 2014 after winning four gold medals for England at the Commonwealth Games.  

The final four celebrity contestants will be revealed on Monday 22 August, with one joining Scott Mills on the BBC Radio 1 show and the final three contestants will be revealed on The One Show.

Other contestants that have been announced for the show include Will Young, Ed Balls and Laura Whitmore. Singer Anastasia also recently confirmed that she would be appearing in the popular dance show, saying: "I'm a total '10' on the level of excitement, and definitely a '10' scared! Seriously though, I can't wait to get started. Taking part in Strictly is a dream, it's such a new challenge for me. I've never done anything like this before so I hope I pull it off!

"I've got a load of training to do before I'm Twinkle Toes, so I'm eager to get my partner and get going. I'm ready!"
