Two years on from the real-life drama of the famous Hatton Garden safe deposit burglary, Larry Lamb and Joely Richardson have come together to bring the story onto the big screen. The first official trailer for The Hatton Garden Job was unveiled on Friday morning, showing the former EastEnders star take on the role of 76-year-old mastermind Brian Reader - who was jailed for six years after being caught, while Joely plays glamourous blonde Erzebet Zslondos.

Directed by Ronnie Thompson, the highly-anticipated movie also stars Downton Abbey actor Matthew Goode, Phil Daniels, Mark Harris and Sarah Jane Crawford. The plot follows four ageing East End criminals and their bid to steal up to £200 million worth of jewellery from an underground safe in central London, which has been described as the "largest burglary in English legal history".

Matthew, who plays one of the conspirators who got away, leads up the British ensemble and his character is seen at the start of the trailer, saying: "Let me tell you about thieving. It's in your blood. Young or old, this is the biggest theft in history."

The trailer then sees the men attempt to drill a large hole in a vault after weeks of masterminding their plan. The men managed to steal 73 boxes containing gold, diamonds and sapphires - before four of their number finally confessed and received prison sentences in March 2016.

The Hatton Garden Job is expected to be released in cinemas on April 14, exactly two years after the heist took place. The official synopsis reads: "The film picks up with a mysterious thief, who is presented with an opportunity to take down the exclusive Hatton Garden Vault just days after leaving prison. It's an old school job, requiring old school skills. With real life twists and turns as though written for a movie, The Hatton Garden Job follows our convict recruiting a team of veteran British criminals all eager for one final chance at glory. Together they must stay ahead of the law, dodge hired mercenaries and make deals with the head of the Hungarian mafia."
