Apple TV has dropped the official trailer for the third season of its hit dystopian thriller, Silo, ahead of its highly anticipated return in July.
Based on Hugh Howey's bestselling trilogy, the series – hailed by viewers as "genuinely brilliant" – follows the last 10,000 people on Earth living in a massive underground bunker designed to protect them from the toxic wasteland above.
Rebecca Ferguson stars as Juliette Nichols, an engineer whose search for answers after her partner's murder unearths startling secrets.
This season, fans can expect higher stakes and some new faces joining the ensemble, including Downton Abbey's Jessica Brown Findlay and Grantchester's Morven Christie, among others.
Boasting high-tension mystery, masterful worldbuilding and an impressive 90 per cent Rotten Tomatoes score, Silo is a must-watch for sci-fi fans. Consider my calendar firmly marked!
Here is everything we know about the upcoming third season.
What to expect from Silo season three
Picking up after season two's jaw-dropping cliffhanger, the upcoming ten-part instalment introduces a dual narrative that balances present-day events with a storyline set centuries earlier.
The official trailer reveals that Juliette's memory has been completely wiped.
"I look at myself in the mirror and I don't even know who's looking back at me," she says in the trailer. "I get splinters of memories. If the founders cared so much, why do they need to kill a silo?"
The trailer also introduces Colin Hanks as a mysterious new character who ominously warns, "The end of the world cannot be stopped. It can only be survived."
The synopsis reads: "In the present, Juliette Nichols (Ferguson) survives her forced 'cleaning' but returns with memory loss as the silo recovers from rebellion and faces a dangerous new threat. Meanwhile, in the 'Before Times,' journalist Helen Drew (Jessica Henwick) and Congressman Daniel Keene (Ashley Zukerman) uncover a conspiracy that pulls them into a chain of events with catastrophic, irreversible consequences."
Who stars in Silo season three?
Rebecca Ferguson leads the cast as Juliette Nicholas. Also reprising their roles for the third season are Common as Robert, Harriet Walter as Martha and Chinaza Uche as Paul.
Also returning for season three are Avi Nash, Alexandria Riley, Shane McRae, Remmie Milner, Rick Gomez, Billy Postlethwaite and Clare Perkins. Zukerman and Henwick, who appeared in the season two finale, will also reprise their roles.
Joining the cast for the new episodes are Laura Innes, Jessica Brown Findlay, Morven Christie, Reed Birney, and Matt Craven, with Colin Hanks set to recur and Steve Zahn also set to return.
When will Silo be released?
Silo, which has already been renewed for a fourth and final season, will premiere on Apple TV with the first episode on 3 July, followed by one new episode every Friday through to 4 September.
