Prime Video's hotly anticipated Legally Blonde prequel, Elle, has finally arrived – and viewers are wasting no time diving straight into the series.

Set years before the events of the original films starring Reese Witherspoon, the show follows a 16-year-old Elle Woods during her high school years, exploring the pivotal life experiences that molded her into the beloved character treasured by audiences worldwide.

It's hard to believe it's been 25 years since the pink-loving lawyer first burst onto our screens. The 2001 original remains one of the most iconic comedies of the 2000s, standing as a timeless tale of self-discovery and the importance of knowing your self-worth. With Reese Witherspoon serving as an executive producer, it's no surprise that the show has become an immediate hit with fans.

What have viewers said about Elle? 

It's safe to say that viewers are loving the comedy, with some hailing it as "perfect" and binge-watching all eight episodes in one day. 

Taking to social media, one fan wrote: "Just binged the whole #Elle series in a day. Girlfriend could not catch a break in those last few episodes. 10/10. I love her. Totally captured the 'Elle factor' of the movies. It was fun and fabulous," while another hailed the "music" as perfect.

Others heaped praise on lead actress Lexi Minetree, who portrays Elle. One person wrote: "Probably about halfway through Elle and loving it. The references are amazing and the music is perfect. Lexi is an awesome Elle," while another added: "I'm already obsessed, the actress playing young Elle is amazing. She looks and acts so much like the og Elle from the movie. I genuinely can't separate them in my head."

What is Elle about? 

Created by Laura Kittrell (High School, Insecure), the series is set in 1995 and follows Elle as she moves from LA to suburban Seattle, where she navigates the "tumultuous waters of high school where she encounters tricky friendships, forbidden romance and questionable fashion choices".

What have critics said about Elle?

The series received positive reviews from critics, with The Times hailing it as a "nice, slick nostalgia fix, a throwback to simpler, happier times," in its three-star review, while NME handed out four stars, calling it a "peppy, hot pink delight".

Who stars in the series?

Lexi Minetree (Law and Order: SVU) leads the cast as Elle Woods.

She's joined by June Diane Raphael (Grace and Frankie) as Elle's mother Eva, and Tom Everett Scott (The Summer I Turned Pretty) as her father Wyatt.
