As a big fan of thrillers, I am always looking out for the next big hit that will fill the void that shows like Big Little Lies or Happy Valley have left behind. Fortunately, from police procedurals to high-octane spy thrillers, there is no shortage of upcoming thriller series. Check out my absolute top picks over the next few months…

The Party - ITV (October 11)

Adapted from the bestselling novel by Elizabeth Day, this psychological thriller follows Luke Evans and Tom Cullen as Martin Gilmour and Ben Fitzmaurice, whose decades-long friendship is at the centre of a “gripping exploration of loyalty, class, and the truths we hide”.

Stephen Graham in Nocturne

Nocturne - Apple TV+ (October 30)

Is there anything that Stephen Graham can't do? The Adolescence star swept up at the award ceremonies recently for his portrayal of a father horrified by the actions of his son and still needing to protect him in Adolescence, but now the protector becomes the villain in Apple TV+'s upcoming show, Nocturne.

Stephen plays a dangerous serial killer who has one last secret from inside a jail cell that an FBI agent will do whatever it takes to discover. Gripping stuff, and I for one can't wait to see Stephen in his next big role.

Black Doves Season 2 - Netflix (November 5)

Welcome back, Black Doves. In season two, Keira Knightley returns as Helen, a secret spy who is still sharing her nation's secrets with the mysterious Black Dove organisation, but this time she is set to become the wife of the Prime Minister. Sarah Lancashire returns as her mysterious handler, Mrs Reed, alongside season one's breakout scene-stealer, her best friend Sam, played by Paddington himself, Ben Whishaw. Sign us up!

The Wanted Man - Apple TV+ (January 6)

The Wanted Man - Apple TV+ (January 6)

Speaking of major stars, I can't wait to see Hugh Laurie himself take on another meaty role as a crime boss in Apple TV's upcoming show, The Wanted Man. In the series, Hugh plays Felix Carmichael, who is betrayed and sent to a notorious prison where he has to remember his own brutality to survive and resolves to escape no matter what the cost. With an amazing cast including Dunkirk star Fionn Whitehead and Years and Years actress Gina McKee, this is absolutely one to have at the top of your watchlist for early 2027.

Jamie Dornan and Anthony Mackie in 12 12 12

12 12 12 - Apple TV+ (November 13)

Anthony Mackie AND Jamie Dornan? Say no more. This heist drama unfolds across the three timelines of a heist - the months of planning, the 12 hours during the event, and the 12 days that follow. With a very cool concept and an even cooler cast, the cat-and-mouse show promises to be absolutely top-notch - and I couldn’t be more excited!

Honey is set to air on BBC

Honey - BBC (TBC)

This excellent upcoming series sees a young woman, Martha, sent deep undercover as a British spy in 1980s East Berlin. Determined to prove herself, and constantly under threat of her cover being blown, this is for anyone who loves a good spy thriller - and a love triangle to boot!

Line of Duty Season 7 - BBC One (2027)

The one we've been waiting for, Line of Duty season 7 is finally back on our screens, hopefully to redeem the awkward finale that was season 6 - which didn't leave anyone all that satisfied.

Martin Compston returns alongside his ‘mate’ Vicky McClure to solve more crime from within the police force. As a massive guilty pleasure and a show that really unites the country, I am very excited to be watching this and getting back to the world of AC-12!
