USA Network has renewed Lea Thompson's Anna Pigeon for a second season after the show became the network's highest-rated original scripted series premiere in nearly eight years.
Starring Tracy Spiridakos as the titular park ranger, the show was executive produced by Back to the Future star Lea, who also directed several of the first season's episodes.
Before the news broke, Lea told HELLO! she was hopeful for a renewal, saying the show was "holding its own" against other cable shows.
"I think it would be a shame if they didn't get the gang all back together," said Lea. "I think there's so many exciting stories to tell and so many exciting places for her to go and to do, and so much trouble that Anna Pigeon can get into."
Lea also shared how much she would "love" to see her daughter Maddie back in front of the camera for the show's second season.
Lea is mom to daughters Maddie and Zoey Deutch, both of whom have followed their mom and dad, director Howard Deutch, into Hollywood. However, Maddie has placed her focus behind-the-camera in recent years, becoming an accomplised photographer who often works with Hilary Duff.
"Maddie and I have collaborated on some writing, but nothing that's been produced yet," said Lea.
"I actually love Maddie's acting but she doesn't really like it that much. I don't know, but if I had the power – if I had a lot of power – I would love to act with Maddie."
The Bell Media/USA Network procedural, which will conclude its first season on October 9, 2026 at 10/9c, is based on Nevada Barr's series of books, first published in 1993, and set in the stunning but terrifying world of Glacier National Park in northwest Montana.
The 10-part series introduces viewers to the titular Anna, a theater stage manager turned Park Ranger in her late 30s who moved from New York City after the murder of her husband in a home invasion.
As each episode focuses on a new crime taking place inside the park, Anna's backstory and the mystery around her husband's death are slowly unveiled across season one, thanks to phone conversations with her therapist sister (Battlestar Galactica's Tricia Helfer), Anna's flashbacks via nightmares, and the help of FBI friend-turned-potential love interest Agent Stanton (Star Trek: Discovery's Ronnie Rowe Jr.)
"I was really grateful to be a part of the project," Tracy, whom Lea shares was her "number one choice" for the role, previously told HELLO!
"I hadn't read the books, but I read the pilot and completely fell in love with the character. She's funny, she's edgy, she's impulsive, and there's so much to her that I couldn't wait to get in there and start."
