Waepril Chua has built an engaged following on Instagram, where she shares skincare advice and product-focused content. Now the Vancouver-based content creator has launched a whole new project, and it's a world away from serums and hand cream.

She has spent years earning her audience's trust the old-fashioned way: by trying things properly before she recommends them. She'll sit with a product for weeks, tracking how her skin actually responds, before she ever films anything about it. Her page has featured a mix of beauty, skincare, fashion, and retail collaborations, reflecting a partnership portfolio that spans both established consumer companies and more specialized lifestyle brands. These campaigns range from personal-care products she has spoken positively about to fashion-focused work and larger retail collaborations, with recent sponsored content appearing on her Instagram.

From Beauty Content to a New Interest

This summer, Waepril Chua also launched The Modern Serve, a new site focused on adult recreational tennis. She has shared openly about what motivated the project. "I started playing tennis as an adult, and I looked for content that reflected that experience rather than a professional pathway," she says. "The Modern Serve is written from the position of someone who is still learning. The intention is to share the process honestly, including the parts that take time."

Learning Tennis as an Adult

Far from pretending otherwise, Waepril is happy to admit she's still finding her feet on court, the same way plenty of her followers are. Her site's Tennis Life series follows that progress in real time, alongside style, wellness and travel content aimed at players who came to the sport a little later in life, along with practical, everyday instruction for anyone starting from scratch. She has already spent time at a prominent tennis training academy on the French Riviera—an experience she says she thoroughly enjoyed—and photos from the visit are featured on the site.

Getting out to the Rafa Nadal Academy in Mallorca is next on her list, something she'd love to turn into a future story if the timing allows.

There's an exciting few months ahead for Waepril, who will be jetting off to Shanghai in October to watch the Rolex Shanghai Masters, an experience she's already planning to write up for her Tennis Life readers. She's hoping the trip brings the chance to speak with players such as Carlos Alcaraz or Holger Rune about their own returns from injury, material she'd love to fold into a future blog piece on the subject, one she thinks will resonate with recreational players nursing their own setbacks and comebacks.

Where Travel, Tennis and Lifestyle Meet

Waepril is quick to point out that her beauty work hasn't taken a back seat while she builds her new venture. "These interests overlap more than people assume," she explains. "Wellness, style and travel all connect to how someone experiences a sport. The Modern Serve is where I bring those subjects together." She's also planning to shine a light closer to home, with upcoming coverage of tennis facilities and programmes around the greater Vancouver area for players hoping to pick up a racquet of their own, alongside further travel features as her own journey with the sport continues.

More from Waepril Chua’s tennis life, including new stories, style ideas and travel features, is available at TheModernServe.com, where fresh content is published on a rolling basis.
