In the photos shared with her 4.8 million followers, the former Gossip Girl star wears her long blonde tresses in one long plaited hairstyle, with intricate knots woven in and out of the braid.

"REGRAM from @rodortega4hair #NatureInspiredHair #WhoWoreItBetterBlakeOrTheBush," she captioned the image, shared from Rod's Instagram page.

Revealing that the striking look was inspired by nature, Blake shows off her sense of humour in the snaps, posing amidst branches of a tree or standing in front of colourful bushes overlooking the coastline.

Rod, who often works with Blake both on and off the red carpet, admitted on his own social media account that the braid was the result of an "impromptu nature inspired" look.

"Messin' around with @blakelively for an impromptu nature inspired hair series," he captioned a photo of the actress. "Which is a fancy way of saying braiding on a 700 foot mountain and in bushes."

It comes as no surprise that Blake was enjoying a trip out in the countryside – she and husband Ryan Reynolds are known for their love of the outdoors.

Ryan recently admitted that, ever since he and Blake welcomed their first child little daughter James, he has been using the walks as an excuse to spend quality time with his little girl.

"I take her on hikes all the time. It's great!" he told Us Weekly. "She's outside all the time. One of the reasons I go hiking is for exercise, so having an 18lb baby on you is just a better workout!"
